Carroll's Chronicle February 2015

Where did January go, here we are in the middle of February and getting ready for our first travels for the year.

We are settling into our new shop and starting to look at how better we can set it up. Just like when you move into a new home you have ideas on where you want things but slowly realise maybe there could be better options.

New to the shop will be the Triton range of tools and accessories, Abbott and Ashby bench grinders and accessories Plano Verticle clamps.

Are you digitally ready, Yes one of the issues getting older means lessening of the eye sight, With the advent of digital calipers, height gauges and now marking gauges, there is no reason to not be able to measure or set up your tools exactly they way you want.

Finally coming in will be some seam rippers, we continually get asked about these. So for the guys with ladies who are into sewing which is a large amount of woodies you will now be able to earn some brownie points with the good lady.
Get your orders in early so we can make sure you get yours asap.

Seam Ripper are what you say.

If you have to ask then you dont have a seamstress in the house.

For those that do have somebody in the house that does do a bit of sewing then this is the tool for you.

Yes like us woodies they do make mistakes and have to unpick those failures and start again.

The kit will include all the parts you need, you supply your own material for encasing the tube and turn to shape on your pen mandrel.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed on the kit and the bushes.

Are you Digitally Ready

Digital tools are becoming the norm these days with new types coming on the market all the time.

There is now calipers, height gauges, verniers etc which make it easier for setting up your tools or for measuring that important part or even checking you have the right size drill bit as you have let the drill bit spin in the drill chuck and ground down the size markings.

The digital tools all come in Metric, Imperial and fractions so working to those american plans is now easier. no more trying to convert sizes.
