Here we are half way through the year already. We are now past the shortest day of the year so every day gets a bit longer and warmer, for our northern friends they have probably not noticed the winter chill like we do down here in the lower climes.
For those not aware there is big changes afoot for the Melbourne wood show, more later.
Always new bits in the shop so keep an open eye out for whats new.

Melbourne Timber & Working With Wood Show
We have made the decision this year not to attend the working with wood shows interstate due to ever increasing costs of getting to the shows, fuel, accommodation etc. We were going to attend Melbourne, but that has all changed.
We will NOT be attending the Melbourne Timber and Working With Wood show due to a change in venue and date.
Apparently the organisers called all concerned about the changes that were afoot, but as a regular for a lot of years we were not consulted and after talking with a couple of other exhibitors they were not called either, so it seems a decision was made without full consideration.
Why cant we go, it is on the same weekend as the Phillip Island Down Under Turn around which we have attended for nearly every year it has been run. They have supported us well over the years and we have reciprocated with a lot of donations to their raffles which go to deserving institutions.
For those who still want to go you will have to change the date and venue , it is now going to be at the Caulfield Racecourse on the weekend of 11-13th of September.
Two weeks after this is the Ballarat Woodworker Show where we will have all our shop goodies on display, so come and support a local club and see numerous demonstrations from club members and other demonstrators from other clubs.

How many times have you looked around for a straight edge and all you have is a 12" rule and you are not even sure if this is good.
We now have these Engineers straight edges that can help you with setting up your machines.
They are available in 3 sizes from 300 -914 mm read more
We have been unable to get the Magnetic Worklight for some time , but they are now available.
These lamps work well with the new LED lamps in them.
They use the Edison screw globes but we found that the smaller globe works better as the normal size one allows too much glare past the lamp shade. read more
